Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The Molloy men's soccer team fell to the Mercy Mavericks, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions moved to 7-5-1 overall and 4-2 in ECC play, while the Mavericks moved to 5-4-2 overall and 2-2-2 in league play.
How it Happened
- Junior Jesse Schleeper made a run down the wing, but his try was stopped in the 10th minute.
- In the 15th minute, freshman Matt Laya-Vetell had a shot denied.
- Matthias Kuhn scored in the 28th minute to put Mercy ahead 1-0.
- The Mavericks, who outshot the Lions 6-5 in the first stanza, led 1-0 at the break.
- Sophomore Danny Muir touched a free kick high in the 61st minute.
- The Lions came back with a pair of chances in the 62nd minute. Schleeper had a shot stopped, and then fired the rebound high.
- Kuhn added his second tally of the match to increase the away team's lead to 2-0 in the 84th minute.
