Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's basketball team fell to the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 88-72, Saturday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions moved to 8-13 overall and 5-6 in ECC play, while the Firebirds improved to 10-12 overall and 5-5 in league play.

How it Happened

• Freshman James Montgomery scored four of the Lions' first 11 points, and the game was even at 11 with 15:03 left in the first half.
• The Firebirds outscored Molloy 14-5 to take a 25-16 advantage.
• The road team opened up a 42-25 lead with 3:05 left in the first frame.
• The maroon and white ended the stanza on a 7-2 rally, led by five points from Montgomery, and trailed 44-32 at the break.
• Down 62-52, junior Steven Torre converted a four-point play to make it 62-56 with 9:50 left.
• UDC opened an 84-67 lead with 1:14 left en route to an 88-72 win.

Top Performances

• Senior Nick Corbett and Torre, who shot 5-of-10, netted 16 points each.
• Senior Josh Dennis tallied 12 points, and Montgomery added 11 points.
