Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The men's basketball team competed in its final road conference game of the regular season, besting the Mavericks of Mercy College, 87-59. The 28-point win is the largest margin of victory for Molloy this season.The Lions snapped a four-game loss streak to improve to 6-7 in East Coast Conference play and 9-14 on the campaign, remaining in the hunt for a home game in the opening round of the ECC Tournament.
How it Happened
- The maroon and white opened the contest on a 12-5 run, including five points from junior Steven Torre.
- With nine minutes remaining in the opening half, Molloy led by 11, 19-8.
- A 17-6 run gave the visitors a 42-23 advantage in the final two minutes before netting the final six points to take a 23-point lead, 48-25, into the break.
- Freshman James Montgomery scored 11 of the Lions' first 23 points of the half, helping the lead extend to as much as 34 points, 71-37.
-  The Mavericks would respond with a seven-point run, but were unable to cut the deficit to under 26 points through the final 10 minutes of action, giving Molloy the 87-59 victory.
Top Performances
- Senior Nick Corbett, who shot 10-of-15 from the field, including sinking 5-of-8 shots from three-point distance, led the game with 26 points while adding four assists and two steals.
- Montgomery tallied 13 points while Torre added 12.
- Senior Josh Dennis and sophomore Frankie Phelan each reached double digits at 11 and 10 points, respectively.Â
- Sophomore Pano Pavlidis led the team with seven rebounds, two blocks, and three steals to go with eight points.
