Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's basketball team opened the 2020 portion of its schedule in an 83-79 loss to the Greyhounds of Assumption College. The Lions fell to 6-7 on the season in the team's penultimate non-conference game of the campaign. 

How it Happened

• Back-to-back three-pointers from junior Steven Torre put the maroon and white in front, 21-19, midway through the opening half.
• The Greyhounds would respond with three unanswered triples of its own, helping the visitors take a 38-33 lead into the break.
• The Lions chipped away at the deficit to open the second half, knotting the score, 46-46, before taking as much as an eight-point advantage, 61-53, with just under eight minutes to play.
• A 14-5 run from Assumption put the visitors back in front, 67-66, with five minutes remaining.
• Molloy would knot the score, 73-73, but were unable to take a lead in the final three minutes of action.

Top Performances

• Senior Josh Dennis topped the Lions with 19 points while adding six rebounds. 
• Senior Nick Corbett tallied 18 points and a game-high five helpers and three steals. 
• Torre netted 16 points, including 4-of-6 from long distance while sophomore Colin Brady put up a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
