Torre Nets Career-High in 80-64 Victory Over Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. - The men's basketball team ended the weekend with an 80-64 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College this afternoon from the Voller Athletic Center. The victory improved the Lions' record to 8-10 on the season and 5-3 in East Coast Conference play. 

How it Happened
  • The maroon and white opened the first 13 minutes of action on a 19-6 run to take a 13-point lead.
  • Back-to-back three-pointers by junior Steven Torre and senior Nolan Kelly increased Molloy's lead to 18, 30-12.
  • The Redhawks would come within 15 in the final five minutes of the first half, but the Lions took a 44-26 lead into the break.
  • The offense continued in the second half, with Molloy opening the second half on a 13-6 run, featuring seven points from Torre, to take a 25-point lead, 57-32. 
  • A jumper from senior Nick Corbett and back-to-back layups from redshirt junior Justin Caldwell increased the lead to 28, 67-39, with 10 minutes on the clock.
  • Roberts Wesleyan netted 13-straight points to come within 15, 67-52, but Molloy's early lead was unable to be caught. 

Top Performances
  • Torre scored a career-high 24 points, including going 4-of-8 from three-point range in the effort. The guard added 10 rebounds for a double-double to go with two assists and one steal.
  • Corbett topped the scoresheet with nine assists while adding 15 points.
  • Senior Josh Dennis joined them in double digits with 14 points.
  • Sophomore Pano Pavlidis pulled down 11 rebounds to go with a game-high three points.
  • Sophomore Frankie Phelan led the Lions with two steals.
