Bridgeport, Conn. - The men's basketball team fell to the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport this evening from Hubbell Gymnasium, 104-89. Molloy now sits at 3-2 in East Coast Conference play and 6-9 on the season with the loss while UB remains undefeated at 5-0 in league play and 13-2 in 2019-20. 

How it Happened

• The teams exchanged an even opening minutes, with neither leading by more than a field goal.
• The Purple Knights took a 24-11 lead following a 9-0 run.
• The home team led, 57-29, at the break.
• The maroon and white opened the second half strong, using a 16-point run, featuring nine points from freshman James Montgomery.
• Molloy remained within 20 points through the final nine minutes of action, helping to a 50-percent field goal percentage, but were unable to overcome the deficit from the first half, falling 104-89

Top Performances 

• Montgomery led all players, netting a career-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including a 7-of-11 showing from the foul line. 
• Junior Steven Torre added 20 points, going 7-of-12 from the field, including making 5-of-6 shots from three-point range. 
• Montgomery and Torre each added two steals. 
• Seniors Nick Corbett and Arthur Scott each added 10 points in the contest.
• Sophomore Pano Pavlidis led the Lions with eight rebounds while senior Josh Dennis led with three assists.
