Men's Basketball Erases Double-Digit Deficit for Overtime Win Over Post University

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's basketball team picked up its third-straight victory, mounting a late comeback to top the undefeated Eagles of Post University, 78-76, in overtime. The victory set the maroon and white at 3-3 on the season.

How it Happened
  • On the back of a 42.86 shooting percentage from long distance, the Eagles led by eight at the half.
  • The lead increased to 10 points, 47-37, after a triple from D.J. Jarrett with just under 15 minutes to play in regulation.
  • A 10-1 run from Molloy, including seven points from senior Josh Dennis, brought the home team within one, 48-47, with 10 minutes on the clock.
  • The score would be tied four times in the final minutes of action, including an Eagles free throw to force overtime , 64-64.
  • Trailing by five points with 67 seconds left in the overtime period, sophomore Colin Brady and senior Nick Corbett hit back-to-back three-pointers to knot the score at 76.  
  • A foul in the final four seconds sent Corbett to the line. The guard sunk both attempts, handing the Lions the two-point victory. 

Top Performances
  • Corbett led all players with 29 points, shooting 10-of-23 from the field, including 5-of-11 from three-point range. The senior added five assists and two steals. 
  • Dennis and Brady joined him in double digits, putting up 15 and 14 points, respectively. 
  • Dennis led with three steals and nine rebounds. Brady added three assists, two steals, and one block.
  • Sophomore Billy Muller recorded nine points and seven rebounds.
