Waltham, Mass. - Despite 34 points from senior
Nick Corbett, the men's basketball team fell, 74-71, to Bentley University. Molloy sits at 0-3 with the loss while the Falcons improved to 3-0 in the victory.
How it Happened
- The maroon and white led nearly the entire first half, including by as many as 13 points following a triple from Corbett, going into the locker room ahead 37-26
- The guard netted five three-pointers in the first half.
- Bentley netted 20 of the first 30 points in the second frame to take a 48-47 lead.
- A 15-5 run gave the home team a 14-point advantage with 5:23 to play.
- Molloy was able to cut the lead to just one, 72-71, down the stretch on 10 points from Corbett and five from senior Josh Dennis.
- A foul in the final 10 seconds sent the Falcons to the line, where they increased the lead to three points, 74-71.
- Corbett attempted another triple with five seconds on the clock, but missed. Sophomore Pano Pavlidis grabbed the offensive board and attempted a putback, but was unsuccessful as time expired.
Top Performances
- Corbett's 34 points came of 13-of-23 shooting, including going 8-of-15 from long distance. The senior added five rebounds and two assists.
- Pavlidis recorded his second-straight double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds to go with a team-leading three blocks.
- Dennis and redshirt junior Justin Caldwell each added eight points in the effort.
