Bridgeport, Conn. - The volleyball team earned its second regular season East Coast Conference Championship in three seasons after defeating the University of Bridgeport, 3-2, from Hubbell Gymnasium. The victory set the Lions at 20-4 on the season, remaining undefeated (8-0) in league play. Molloy will host the ECC Championship Nov. 22-23.

How it Happened
- After trailing 10-2 to open the contest, the maroon and white came within one, 15-14.
- The Lions took the team's first lead of the contest during a 10-point run, 24-17. The run featured three service aces from junior Kacey Affrunti.
- UB fired off seven-straight points of its own to knot the score, but back-to-back kills from freshman Chye Davis and senior Hailey Wehr sealed the first set in favor of the Lions.
- Molloy was unable to take a lead at any point during the second set, falling victim to an early 8-2 deficit before falling, 25-19.
- The visitors took a late lead, 20-16, after an evenly-contested third set.
- The Purple Knights would come within three, 22-19, but Molloy would take the set, 25-19.
- The maroon and white took a 17-15 lead in the fourth set before a five-point run put UB in front, 20-17. The home team would take five of the next eight points to force a fifth and deciding set.
- The contest was knotted, 7-7, but the Lions took advantage of consecutive errors from the Purple Knights to take a 9-7 lead.
- Bridgeport would come within one, 10-9, but the next five points went in favor of the visitors to give Molloy a 15-9 set victory, sealing the contest in favor of the Lions.
Top Performances
- Affrunti topped the scoresheet with 21 kills while adding six blocks and four aces.
- Wehr joined the junior in double-digits with 14 while added five blocks.
- Freshman Brynne Winkelman (16) and sophomores Kathleen Doherty (15) and Nicole Wagner (15) each reached double-digit digs while senior Jessica Fischetti set a career-high with 32.Â
- Senior Sophia Smith added 45 assists, six digs, four kills, and three blocks.
- Davis recorded a game-high eight blocks.
