Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's soccer team topped the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions improved to 4-4-1 overall and 1-2 in East Coast Conference play, while the Firebirds fell to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in league play.

How it Happened

• Vitor Gomez fired the first shot on goal, but his shot was denied by sophomore goalkeeper Dennis Mejia in the 14^th minute.
• Molloy recorded the next five shots, but the match remained scoreless in the 27^th minute.
• In the 44^th minute, senior Anthony Cestaro sent a pass to senior Carlos Bonilla, who scored from the top of the box to make it 1-0.
• Molloy looked to add to its advantage in the 70^th minute, but junior Oscar Magnusson's try was denied.
• Pierre LaNoire sent a free kick high in the 81^st minute.
• The  Lions held on for the 1-0 win.

• Bonilla netted his third goal of the season.
• Cestaro tallied his third assist of 2019 and leads the team with 11 points.
• Mejia made four saves for his first career win and shutout.
