Volleyball Streak Continues in 3-1 Victory at Southern New Hampshire

Manchester, N.H. - The volleyball team defeated the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University, 3-1, last night to improve its win streak to four contests. The Lions now sit at 12-3 on the seaon.

How it Happened
  • After trailing 4-1, the Penmen rallied to take a 6-4 lead early in the first set. The Lions were unable to make up the difference, falling 25-22.
  • The score was tied four times in the second set until a kill from senior Hailey Wehr put the maroon and white in front, 9-8. Molloy would lead by as much as six, 16-10, which SNHU was unable to overcome.
  • The Penmen took a 15-9 advantage in the third set following a five-point run. The Lions chipped away at the lead, eventually knotting the score at 24 after a five-point run of their own down the stretch.
  • After being tied, 26-26, the visitors took advantage of an attacking error before junior Kacey Affrunti sealed the set in Molloy's favor with a kill to earn the necessary two-point lead, 28-26.
  • Neither team was able to take any significant lead in the fourth set. SNHU led, 24-23, but errors on the part of the home team resulted in three unanswered points for the Lions, earning the set and match victory.
Top Performances
  • Wehr led the Lions with 14 kills while adding three blocks.
  • Affrunti tallied 13 kills along with two aces.
  • Senior Jessica Fischetti topped all players with 20 digs while sophomore Kathleen Doherty had 18 digs and five kills.
  • Senior Sophia Smith recoreded 42 assists, 12 digs, and two blocks.
