Bordenca's Game-Winner Lifts Men's Soccer Past Caldwell in Overtime

Caldwell, N.J. – The Molloy men's soccer team defeated the Caldwell Cougars, 3-2, Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Lions improved to 8-5-1, while the Cougars fell to 3-11.

How it Happened
  • Caldwell's Erlend Aase opened the scoring in the second minute.
  • Senior Carlos Bonilla knotted the score, 1-1, on penalty kick in the 29th minute.
  • In the 41st minute, senior Anthony Cestaro put a cross from junior Kenneth Garcia into the back of the net to put Molloy ahead 2-1.
  • Caldwell tied the score, 2-2, on a goal from Andrea Rizzi in the 54th minute.
  • Senior Angelo Bordenca, who was assisted by junior Oscar Magnusson, tallied the game-winner 2:44 into the first overtime.

  • Cestaro leads the team with seven goals.
  • Bonilla is tied for second on the team with five goals, and Bordenca is third on the team with four goals.
  • Magnusson tallied his third assist of 2019.
  • Garcia recorded his second assist of the season.
