Amherst, N.Y. - The volleyball team continued its undefeated streak in East Coast Conference play, defeating the Wildcats of Daemen College, 3-2. This is the first win for the maroon and white from Lumsden Gymnasium and sets the team at 18-4 on the season and 6-0 in East Coast Conference play.

How it Happened
- The Lions took a 12-6 lead in the first set and maintained its advantage until a four-point run put the Wildcats within one, 22-21. The home team would take a late lead, 25-24, before eventually taking the first set.
- Molloy played from behind for a large part of the second set before taking a 12-10 lead on back-to-back kills from redshirt senior Carly Banks. The visitors retained the lead, knotting the contest at 1-1.
- Daemen took a 5-1 lead in the third set, but the Lions were able to take advantage of Wildcat miscues to knot the score, 7-7.
- The score would be tied eight more times until a six-point run put the maroon and white in front, 23-17 en route to a second set victory.
- After trailing 19-15 in the fourth set, Molloy strung together six of the next seven points to take a 21-20 lead.
- Back-to-back kills from Tirzah Peters put Daemen in front, 22-21, and the visitors were unable to overcome the difference, forcing a deciding set.
- The two teams remained evenly matched through the abbreviated fifth set, with the score being tied 11 times, 11-11.
- Molloy took a 14-11 lead following kills from Banks and senior Hailey Wehr before the contest was decided on a Daemen attack error.
Top Performances
- Senior Sophia Smith had a double-double with 45 assists and 11 digs to go with four blocks and three kills. The setter passed the 4,000 assist mark in the effort.
- Molloy was led by 12 kills from Wehr, Banks, and junior Kacey Affrunti. Wehr and Affrunti also added four blocks.
- Freshman Chye Davis recorded a career-high 10 blocks, four solo and four assist, to go with eight kills.
- Senior Jessica Fischetti (27), freshman Brynne Winkelman (16), and sophomore Kathleen Doherty (15) joined Smith in double-digit digs with Smith and Fischetti each serving up two aces.
