Bordenca Tallies Five Points in Men's Soccer's Win Over Daemen

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's soccer team defeated the Daemen Wildcats, 4-0, Monday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions improved to 6-4-1 overall and 3-2 in ECC play, while the Wildcats fell to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in league play.

How it Happened
  • The Molloy offense got off to a fast start. After seniors Carlos Bonilla and Angelo Bordenca had their shots stopped, Bordenca gathered his own rebound and scored in the second minute.
  • In the 20th minute, junior Eli Whyte led Bordenca on a break, which led to a goal and put the Lions ahead 2-0.
  • The maroon and white led 2-0 at the half.
  • The Lions struck again in the 46th minute. Bonilla scored on a penalty kick to make it a 3-0 contest.
  • Senior Paul Morales added a goal in the 50th minute, which was assisted by Bordenca and put the home team up 4-0.
Top Performances
  • Bordenca tallied a career-high five points (two goals and one assist).
  • Bonilla and Morales each netted their fourth goals of the season, which tied Anthony Cestaro for the team lead.
  • Whyte registered his first assist with the Lions.
  • Freshman Sergio Peralta and sophomore Dennis Mejia, who made one save, combined for Molloy's second shutout of the year.
