Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The men's basketball team came up short against #15 Bentley University, 84-71, in the team's final non-conference game of the regular season. The Lions fell to 8-5 on the season with the loss.
How it Happened
- Molloy started the game in a 13-2 hole, but responded with a 13-3 run to come within one, 16-15, with 12 minutes remaining in the first half.
- The teams exchanged baskets through the following nine minutes until a three-pointer from the Falcons put the visitors in front, 40-32.
- Molloy trailed by six, 42-36, at the half.
- Bentley extended its lead to 11, 52-41, in the opening minutes of the second half.
- Consecutive layups from juniors Josh Dennis and Nick Corbett and senior Curtis Jenkins brought the maroon and white within three, 52-49, with 12 minutes to play in the contest.
- The Falcons regained a double-digit advantage with 10 minutes on the clock.
- Three straight foul shots from Jenkins brought Molloy within four, 73-69, with 1:41 left to play, but the comeback fell short as Bentley took the contest, 84-71.
Top Performances
- Jenkins led the maroon and white with 19 points while adding eight rebounds and four assists.
- Corbett added 18 points and four helpers while senior Mike Torre led the team with nine rebounds while tallying 15 points.
- Freshman Billy Muller added 10 points for the Lions.
