Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The men's basketball East Coast Conference winning streak came to an end in a 74-62 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas College this afternoon in Quealy Gymnasium. Molloy fell to 11-6 on the season and 7-1 in ECC play in the defeat while STAC took first-place in the league, 7-0 in conference play and 15-2 overall, with the victory.
How it Happened
- The Lions trailed by as much as nine points, 16-7, in the opening six minutes of play.
- The Spartans took a double-digit lead, 24-14, with 8:10 left in the opening half.
- An 11-2 run brought the maroon and white within one, 26-25, with 5:36 left on the clock.
- STAC, however, would take a 37-29 lead into the break.
- The deficit increased to 13 points, 49-36, midway through the second half.
- After trailing by as much as 17 with 38 seconds to play, Molloy pulled within 12, 74-62, to end the contest.
Top Performances
- Senior Curtis Jenkins scored a game-high 20 points while adding six rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
- Senior Mike Torre and junior Josh Dennis each tallied 10 points for the Lions, with Torre pulling down a team-leading eight rebounds.

Molloy will complete the first round of ECC play on Wednesday (Jan. 23) against Queens College at 7:00 p.m.
