Rochester, N.Y. – The men's basketball team made it six straight East Coast Conference wins with an 83-77 victory against Roberts Wesleyan College at the Voller Athletic Center. The Lions improved to 10-5 on the season with the win.
How it Happened
- Three field goals from senior Mike Torre gave Molloy an early 7-1 lead over the Redhawks.
- The maroon and white remained in front the entirety of the half, going ahead by as many as 10 points, 29-19, with 5:41 left in the opening 20 minutes of play on a layup from senior Curtis Jenkins.
- Roberts Wesleyan ended the half on a 14-6 run to head into the break trailing by two, 35-33.
- Torre scored the first six points of the second half to give the Lions an eight-point lead. Another jumper from Jenkins with 11 minutes left in the contest gave the visitor its largest lead of the evening, 59-38.
- The Redhawks worked the score back within four in the final eight seconds, 81-77, but the Molloy defense held strong to secure the victory.
Top Performances
- Torre led all scorers with 27 points, going 11-of-18 from the field, including 5-of-8 from long distance. The senior topped the squad with nine rebounds and three steals while adding Molloy's lone block.
- Junior Nick Corbett added 18 points, three assists, and two steals while Jenkins tallied 16 points, three assists, and one steal.
