Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. – The volleyball team bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of the Mavericks of Mercy College this afternoon in the team's first game at the new Victory Gym on the campus of Mercy. With the victory, the Lions improve to 7-4 on the campaign and 2-1 in East Coast Conference. The Mavericks fall to 3-10 (1-2 ECC) with the loss.

How it Happened
- Molloy out-hit the Mavericks on the afternoon, attacking at .244 on the performances compared to Mercy's .160. The visitor's strongest clip came in the first set, where the Lions attacked at .286.
- After early back-and-forth action, Molloy fired off a six-point run on the serving of sophomore Kacey Affrunti, including three aces from the blocker to give Molloy a 19-10 lead. A kill from Affrunti would eventually end the first set in favor of the Lions, 25-15.
- The maroon and white jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the first seven points of the second set. The Mavericks clawed back, tying the contest at 19-19 and then later 22-22, but three kills from redshirt junior Carly Banks ended the set in favor of Molloy.
- The Mavericks led much of the third set. A kill from Banks knotted the score at 18-18. The Lions followed up with kills from juniors Sophia Smith and Hailey Wehr to eventually go in front, 23-22.
- The score would be tied three times in the final stretch before kills from Wehr, Affrunti, and junior Devon Hagerstrom completed the sweep for the visitors.
Top Performances
- Affrunti topped the match with 15 kills, attacking at a match-high .286. The sophomore added a career-high six aces as well as two blocks and three digs.
- Banks and Wehr each tallied 12 kills for the Lions with Banks also recording two blocks.
- Junior Jessica Fischetti racked up 14 digs while adding four assists; Smith topped the maroon and white with 35 helpers.

Molloy returns to action at home on Saturday (Sept. 29) as they face Daemen College at 12:00 p.m.
