Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The volleyball team opened East Coast Conference play with a 3-0 sweep of the Knights of Queens College earlier this evening from Quealy Gymnasium. Molloy sits at 6-3 on the season.

How it Happened
- The Lions took a ten-point lead, 16-6, following a five-point run, featuring kills from sophomore Kacey Affrunti and redshirt junior Carly Banks, before eventually taking the set by 13, 25-12.
- Molloy fell behind in the second set, 9-6 before thundering back with a 12-point rally, including three kills from Affrunti and three aces from senior Meaghan Carr. The Knights would tie it twice late, 21-21 and 24-24, before the Lions took the final two points to earn the set victory.
- The maroon and white fired off another nine-point rally in the final set on the serving of senior Jeanne Reinis to go in front, 20-9 before ultimately taking the set, 25-13, and the match.
Top Performances
- Affrunti led the Lions with 11 kills on a .409 hitting percentage, adding a match-high four service aces.
- Junior libero Jessica Fischetti tallied 17 digs, adding two assists and one kill.
- Junior Sophia Smith added 27 assists, one ace, five digs, and two kills.

"It's always nice to kick off the conference season with a win," said head coach
Kevin DesLauriers. "We knew Queens was rebuilding this year and it allowed us to give opportunities to see our players play alternate roles in a game environment."
