Bridgeport, Conn. – The Molloy men's soccer team was defeated by the Bridgeport Purple Knights, 3-1, Tuesday evening at Knights Field. The Lions moved to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in East Coast Conference play. The Purple Knights improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.

How it Happened

• Graduate student Marlon Montanella put the home team ahead 1-0 in the 20^th minute.
• Bridgeport increased its lead to 2-0 on a goal from junior Erlend Skagestad in the 32^nd minute.
• The Purple Knights made it 3-0 in the 53^rd minute after senior Jhonah- George Felipe found the back of the net.
• Junior Paul Morales scored for the maroon and white in the 68^th minute.

Top Performances

• Morales tallied his first goal of the season.
• Redshirt senior Kenny Joseph recorded his first assist of the season.
• Senior Raul Bonilla made a season-high eight saves.
• Junior Anthony Cestaro led the Lions with four shots.

Coach's Comments 

• "We didn't come to play in the first half, and by the time we woke up in the second, it was too late," head coach Danny Longo said. "Our effort in the second was great."

• Molloy returns home to play Caldwell Thursday, September 13. Kickoff with the Cougars is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at John A. Darcy Field.
