Tim Steinman (one goal, three assists) and freshman 
Nick Del Giorno (two goals, two assists), the men's lacrosse team fell to the University of the District of Columbia in the opening East Coast Conference contest of the season. The Lions sit at 2-3 (0-1 ECC) on the season while the Firebirds improved to 6-1 (1-0 ECC) with the victory.
Junior 
Michael Scheuerer gave the maroon and white a 1-0 lead, burying a pass from Steinman. The Firebirds tallied three straight markers before Del Giorno brought Molloy within one on a man-up goal from Steinman. The home team would take a 6-2 lead into the second quarter.
Sophomore

Hunter Nuzzi scored to start the second frame to bring the visitors within two, 6-4. UDC would score mid-way through the quarter to take a three-goal lead, but the Lions took a lead into the half on five straight goals off the sticks of Steinman, Del Giorno, and sophomores 
Kevin Pastier and 
Travis Cooksey.
The Firebirds scored four in the third stanza, giving the home team an 11-8 lead headed into the final 15 minutes of play.
Pastier netted his second goal of the game in the fourth quarter, but the effort would fall short as time expired with Molloy trailing, 14-9.
Pastier (two goals) and Scheuerer (one goal, one assist) each recorded multiple points in the contest. Del Giorno and sophomore 
Brandon Leon each picked up a team-high four ground balls while junior 
Mike Durkin caused three turnovers. Senior 
Ryan Toomey made 17 saves in net.
The Lions will step out of conference play as they take on the Chargers of Dominican College at the RVC Sports Complex on Wednesday (Mar. 21) at 7:00 p.m.
