Nick Corbett helped to lead the men's basketball team to its seventh consecutive win, improving to 8-3 on the season with a 91-77 victory over Adelphi University (6-5).
How it Happened
- The Lions took an 11-5 lead on back-to-back triples from Corbett and senior Mike Torre.
- Back-to-back layups from Jenkins gave the maroon and white a 10-point lead, 19-9, with 12 minutes to play in the opening half.
- The Panthers tied the contest at 25 before free throws from Jack Laffey gave the visitor its first lead of the game, 27-25.
- A 12-0 run from Adelphi put the Panthers in front, 43-33 with just under two minutes on the clock.
- The Lions ultimately trailed by nine, 46-36, at the half.
- With 14:20 to play in the contest, a trey from Corbett paired with three points from Torre put Molloy back in front, 57-54.
- Adelphi retook the lead a few minutes later, but a jumper from senior Derrick Okunpolor put Molloy back in front, 62-61, as part of a 10-0 run from the Lions.
- The home team maintained its advantage through the final eight minutes of play before ultimately earning the 14-point win, 91-77.
Top Performances
- Jenkins set a career-high 32 points, going 11-of-15 from the field while adding eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks.
- Corbett added 27 points, notching his 1000th career point with a layup in the second half. The junior added seven boards and two assists and shot 4-of-7 from three-point range.
- Torre added 12 points in the effort.
- Junior Josh Dennis led the game with nine rebounds, adding eight points while Okunpolor scored five points to go along with three steals.
