Nyack, N.Y. – The men's basketball team picked up its first victory of the season with an 81-79 win over Nyack College from Bowman Gym this evening. The Lions overcame a 22-point deficit midway through the second half, fueled by 25 second half points from junior
Nick Corbett. Molloy improved to 1-2 on the season.
How it Happened
- Molloy went ahead early, as a three-pointer from senior Chris O'Reilly gave the Lions a five-point lead, 9-5, in the first three minutes of play.
- That would be the maroon and white's largest lead of the game, however, as the Warriors turned the tables, taking a five-point lead, 21-16, with just over 11 minutes left to play in the half.
- The teams went to the locker room with the home team in front, 40-35.
- Nyack extended its lead early in the second half with a 12-point run to set the score at 52-35 with 16:43 remaining before a jumper from Curtis Thompson gave the Warriors its largest lead, 62-40, with 13:21 on the clock.
- The maroon and white responded with an 18-2 run over the next four minutes to cut the deficit to just six points, 64-58, including three three-pointers from Corbett.
- The score was tied three times in the following minutes before a jumper from the junior gave Molloy its first lead since early in the contest, 74-72.
- Nyack tied the contest with 86 seconds on the clock before a jumper from Corbett with four seconds remaining gave Molloy the two-point victory.
Top Performances
- Corbett led the Lions with 31 points, going 10-of-15 from the field. He was joined in double digits by senior Curtis Jenkins, who tallied 16 points.
- Senior Mike Torre, junior Josh Dennis, and freshman Billy Muller each recorded six rebounds for the maroon and white,
- Jenkins topped the team with four assists, two blocks, and two steals. Sophomore Steven Torre also added a pair of steals in the effort.

Charles Marquardt.
Looking Ahead
Molloy will face Division I Stony Brook University on Wednesday (Nov. 21) before heading into the Thanksgiving break. Tip-off against the Seawolves is slated for 7:00 p.m. from Island Federal Credit Union Arena.
