Old Westbury, N.Y. (Jan. 6, 2018) – Unable to overcome a 24-1 opening run, the Molloy men's basketball team fell on the road at New York Institute of Technology, 71-58. The loss sets the Lions at 3-12 on the season and 2-3 in league play.
Sophomore
Nick Corbett led the game in the effort with 21 points (8-of-16). It is the eighth time this season the guard has scored at least 20 points. Joining Corbett in double-digits was junior
Curtis Jenkins, who tallied 11 points. The pair also added five rebounds and four steals each in the effort. Redshirt freshman

Molloy fell behind early, as the Bears exploded to a 24-1 opening run. Led by seven points from Jenkins, the Lions battled back. The visitors closed the half on a 15-3 run to head into the break trailing by just nine points, 30-21.
The run continued, as the maroon and white scored 10 of the first 12 points in the second frame, coming within one on a tip-in from Caldwell, 32-31. The game stayed close as the teams exchanged baskets until NYIT pulled ahead on an 11-0 run to take a 54-41 lead. A jumper from Corbett put the Lions within eight points, 64-56, with just over one minute remaining. The Bears, however, closed the contest on a 7-2 run to secure the team's first league victory of the season.
Molloy will look to snap its five-game losing streak on Wednesday (Jan. 10) as they welcome the University of Bridgeport to Quealy Gymnasium. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
