Jenkins Matches Career-High in Men's Basketball Loss to Bridgeport, 90-84

Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Jan. 10, 2018) – Junior Curtis Jenkins matched a career-high 25 points in a men's basketball loss to the University of Bridgeport, 90-84. The Lions fell to 3-13 overall, 2-4 East Coast Conference while the Purple Knights improve to 13-4, 6-1 ECC.

Jenkins, who added nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals, shot 19-of-22 from the foul line in the effort. He was joined in double digits by junior Mike Torre, who tallied 20 points, five boards and four steals, and sophomore Nick Corbett, who added 14 points. Freshman Steven Torre led the contest with five assists.

Molloy opened the contest with an 8-4 lead following a triple from Corbett. The score would be tied three times in the resulting minutes until a three-pointer from UB gave the visitors a four-point lead, 21-17. The Lions would battle back, tying the contest 26-26 with a trey from junior Chris O'Reilly. The Purple Knights took a lead, 31-30, with 4:23 remaining in the opening frame and carried the lead through the half, heading into the locker room with a 42-34 advantage.

Bridgeport pulled ahead to its largest lead of the contest, 47-34, early in the second half. A layup from Corbett put Molloy within three, 50-47, before the Lions ultimately came within one point, 60-59, on a jumper from Mike Torre with 11 minutes left to play. That, however, would be as close as the home team would come, as the Purple Knights walked away with a 90-84 victory.

Up next, Molloy heads to Mercy College on Saturday (Jan. 13) with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
