Rockville Centre, N.Y. (Jan. 24, 2018) – Led by 22 points from sophomore Nick Corbett, the Molloy men's basketball team snapped a nine-game losing streak, defeating the University of the District of Columbia, 76-57.

The guard shot 8-of-12 from the field, hitting six three-point shots, and led the game with six assists. Junior Curtis Jenkins added 15 points (7-of-14), nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals while redshirt freshman Justin Caldwell matched a career-high 12 points. Molloy got on the board first as junior Mike Torre hit a three-pointer to put the Lions up, 3-0. The lead extended to four points in the first five minutes following a triple from Jenkins. The maroon and white exploded back into action, tearing off to a 14-0 run to take an 11-point lead, 33-22. Corbett tallied the final five points of the half for the home team, helping the Lions to a 46-30 lead at the break.

Mid-way through the second frame, a dunk from Caldwell put Molloy in front, 66-38. A trey from Corbett gave the maroon and white its largest lead of the evening, 69-38, with just under nine minutes left to play. A 14-5 run from the Firebirds helped to bridge the gap, but the Lions walked away victorious, improving to 4-16 (3-7 East Coast Conference).
