The maroon and white dominated through the first two sets, hitting at a combined .317.

The Lions did not trail at all through the first two frames before Mercy took a 5-4 lead in the third set following back-to-back aces from Kaitlyn Partridge. Molloy then exploded to life, rallying for six straight points on the serving of sophomore Devon Hagerstrom (Bethpage, N.Y.), taking an 11-6 lead.

The Mavericks kept the Lions within striking distance, coming as close as 18-17 before Hagerstrom once again served Molloy to a 22-17 lead before the maroon and white ultimately took the set and the match.

Hagerstrom led with a game-high five blocks, adding five digs, three service aces, two kills, and one assist. Freshman Kacey Affrunti (Levittown, N.Y.) tallied 10 kills, hitting at .421. Molloy ultimately had 10 players register kills on the evening. Sophomore Sophia Smith (Georgetown, N.Y.) accounted for 27 of Molloy's 36 assists, with junior Meaghan Carr (Mineola, N.Y) and senior Dakota O'Neill (Long Beach, N.Y.) each chipping in with two. The pair also led the Lions defensively, tallying nine and 10 digs, respectively.

Following an eight-day rest, Molloy heads upstate to take on first-place Daemen College on Oct. 13 in Amherst, N.Y. at 2:00 p.m.
