For the second time this season, the teams would need five sets to determine the contest. The opening two sets were too close to call, with neither team being able to pull ahead to much of a lead. Tied 1-1, Molloy struggled in the third set, hitting at -.054.
The maroon and white, however, dug deep to take the final two sets for the victory. In set four, after the score being tied 14 different times, sophomore
Shannon Wren (Lynbrook, N.Y.) broke the knot for the final time to put Molloy ahead, 25-24. The Lions ultimately took the fourth set following an attack error by the Pioneers.
Molloy took advantage of errors by the Pioneers in the deciding set, pulling ahead 10-9. The Lions would not loosen the reigns the remainder of the contest and continued to a 15-13 victory for the season sweep.
