In a back-and-forth opening set, the teams found themselves tied on eight occasions. Molloy fell behind, 8-5, early in the set before rallying to take a 21-11 lead. Kills from Banks and freshman Kacey Affrunti (Levittown, N.Y.) paired with an ace from senior Dakota O'Neill (Long Beach, N.Y.) put the Lions up 24-18 before an attack error from the Redhawks sealed the set in favor of the visitors, 25-20.

Strong service from sophomore Sophia Smith (Georgetown, Texas) propelled the maroon and white to a seven-point run in the second set to put the team in front 21-11. Affrunti ended the set with a kill from Smith, giving Molloy a 2-0 lead. Two separate five-point runs in the final set helped push the Lions to a 25-22 lead.

Affrunti tallied nine kills. The freshman and sophomore Devon Hagerstrom (Bethpage, N.Y.) each finished with a game-high four blocks. Smith led the contest with 35 assists, adding a service ace, six digs, and two blocks. Junior Meaghan Carr (Mineola, N.Y.) led the back row with 14 digs.
