Dobbs Ferry N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2017) – The Molloy men's soccer team fell to the Mercy Mavericks, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Mercy Field. The Lions move to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in ECC play.
Mercy (10-3, 5-1 ECC) controlled the offensive chances in the first half outshooting the Lions, 10-1. Junior keeper
Raul Bonilla (Brentwood, N.Y.) kept the match scoreless at the break making four of his eight saves in the opening stanza.
The Mavericks, which outshot Molloy 21-5, scored in the 87
th minute on a goal from Haxhi Verjoni. Down a goal, the Lions, led by three shots from junior
Daniel Massey (Warrington, England), couldn't knot the score.
The maroon and white return to action Wednesday, Oct. 18, when it travels to play St. Thomas Aquinas. Kickoff against the Spartans is scheduled for 2:30.
