ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Jan. 28, 2017) – Senior guard
Jaylen Morris (Amherst, N.Y.) led Molloy's men's basketball team to a 77-64 win over the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan College, totaling a season-high 30 points and eight rebounds. The win sets the Lions at 11-9 (7-4 ECC) on the season, while the Redhawks fall to 2-17 (1-9 ECC).
After the score being tied three times in the opening four minutes, Molloy pulled ahead 23-11 on a 13-2 run. The Redhawks, however, changed the pace, going on a 12-point run to come within one point with 4:45 left in the first half. Five points from Morris coupled with a layup from sophomore
Curtis Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) put the Lions ahead 34-26 with 2:35 on the clock. A layup from Malik Dare (Cohoes, N.Y.) cut the lead to six, but back-to-back field goals from senior

Malik and Manny Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) combined for a 10-point run to start the second half to come back within one point. Jenkins would post seven points in the next two minutes to put Molloy ahead 50-42. Isaiah Lewis (Churchville, N.Y.) and Joseph hit back-to-back three-pointers to pull Roberts to within two points, but the final 11 minutes would belong to the Lions. The Molloy defense would not allow the Redhawks to come closer than six points for the remainder of the contest, ending the contest up 13, 77-64.
Morris' 30 points came after a successful day from the field, shooting 12-of-21 (57.1%) while adding two steals and two assists. Jenkins added 15 points, six rebounds, one block, and one steal. Guzzardi rounded out the top scorers, totaling 14 points and five boards. Senior
