Box Score SPARKILL, N.Y. (Feb. 8, 2015) - On Saturday, the Molloy College men's basketball team lost to East Coast Conference-foe St. Thomas Aquinas College, 75-67. The Lions fall to 12-10 and 7-7 in the ECC, while the Spartans improve to 15-4 overall and 12-2 in conference action.
In the waning minute before the intermission of halftime, the Spartans used an 11-0 run to take a 38-22 lead. In that opening period, the Lions were led by senior guard
Matt McLeod (Greenlawn, N.Y.), who tallied 12 points and four rebounds.
Molloy fought back and remained in the game throughout the second half -- eventually cutting its deficit down to four after another timely three-ball from sophomore forward
Charlie Marquardt (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.). However, the Spartans would go on to convert on their free throws to seal the win.
For the game, McLeod finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard
Jaylen Morris (Amherst, N.Y.) netted 13 points (5-14 from the field). Off the bench, junior guard
Maurice Gatson (New York, N.Y.) contributed 10 points to the effort.
The Spartans were led by Chaz Watler's 15 points (6-10 from the field).
