Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Jan. 4, 2015) - On Sunday, the Molloy College men's basketball squad lost to non-conference opponent Philadelphia University, 55-48, to slip to 7-5 overall. The Rams bettered their ledger to 8-4 following the victory.
Midway through the first half, the Rams mounted a double-digit lead, before Molloy knocked it down to a six-point advantage. Philadelphia then put together a 9-1 run to help close out the opening period with a 28-18 lead.
Following the intermission, the Lions eventually chipped their deficit down to just three points on a
Maurice Gatson (New York, N.Y.) jumper with 7:38 left. A minute later, junior center
Chucks Obunse (St. Albans, N.Y.) drained a jump shot and two minutes later, senior guard
Matt McLeod (Greenlawn, N.Y.) slammed in a dunk to cut Philadelphia's advantage to 41-40.
However, the Rams were able to get that lead back up with a quick 4-0 run. For the remaining 2:43 in regulation, Philadelphia continued to convert on free throws and held on for the win. A last-second three-pointer from Gatson ended the contest with the Rams on top, 55-48.
For Molloy, junior guard
Brandon Williams (Baldwin, N.Y.) scored 13 points, while giving out a pair of assists and grabbing four rebounds. McLeod finished with seven points and eight boards.
