Box Score OAKDALE, N.Y. (Jan. 25, 2015) - On Saturday afternoon, the Molloy College men's basketball team dropped an East Coast Conference showdown with Dowling College at Dowling Gymnasium, 91-80. With the loss, the Lions are now 10-8 overall and 5-5 in the league, which moves them down to fifth place in the standings. The Golden Lions improved to 8-9 overall and 6-4 in the ECC with the victory.
For the game, the Lions recorded a field goal conversion of 38.4%, making 28 of the whopping 73 shots taken. By contrast, the Golden Lions hit at a clip of 50% (28-56). Molloy didn't fare well from three-point land (20.8%), but did shoot well from the charity stripe (86.4%).
At the conclusion of the opening half, Molloy held a slim 40-39 advantage. In a tale of two tapes in the second half, the Lions harbored the lead in the first 10 minutes, while Dowling controlled the advantage and led for the second half of the second half. Molloy junior point guard
Brandon Williams (Baldwin, N.Y.) at one point of the second stanza scored 11 straight points for the Lions. He finished with 20 on the night, while going 9-9 from the foul line. He also had two steals and four assists. Sophomore guard

Matt McLeod (Greenlawn, N.Y.) scored 11 points. Sophomore forward
Charlie Marquardt (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) finished with eight points -- with all of them coming as the team's first eight points of the game. Senior forward

Richard Zoller (Syosset, N.Y.) had strong games for Molloy scoring eight and nine points, respectively.
For Dowling, Michael Guzzardi paced the squad with 20 points, while Ryan Hickey and Donte Adams each netted 18.

Charles Marquardt and the Lions return to action on Friday, Jan. 30 when they host ECC-opponent Daemen College at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats are currently 13-5 overall and 8-2 in the league, which slots them tied for second place with St. Thomas Aquinas College, and behind the University Bridgeport.
