Buffalo, N.Y. – The right foot of sophomore Jack Veletanga was red hot Saturday afternoon, as the Molloy men's soccer picked up a 2-1 road confrerence victory at D'Youville at Dobson Field. The Lions have collected a result in their last five contests improving to 4-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 in ECC play, while the Saints move to 3-4-3 and 1-1-1 in league play.
 
How it Happened

• Molloy took advantage of its first chance of the game in the eighth minute. Freshman Mael Pierre Paul found sophomore Jack Veletanga on the left wing, who fired a shot that tucked under the cross bar, and into the back of the net to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
• D'Youville returned the favor in the 12^th minute.  After an initial save was made by senior goalkeeper Anthony Martinez, the Saints scored following a rebound to knot the game up at one.
• After neither team recorded a shot on target for the next 12 minutes, D'Youville put together scoring chances in the 27^th and 29^th minutes with Martinez making a pair of saves.
• The 33^rd minute saw the Lions collect their second shot on goal in the half when sophomore Cesar Chavez opened space to shoot, but his shot was saved.
• The final shot of the half came from Veletanga with 14 seconds left, but the shot was sent high of target sending the game into halftime tied at one.
• 5:20 into the second half, Veletanga tallied his second of the afternoon after finishing a loose ball inside the 18-yard box to push Molloy back in front, 2-1.
• The Saints looked to bring the contest back to all square with a pair of quality scoring chances in the 61^st and 63^rd minute. The first chance was denied after the Molloy defense made a stop before Martinez made a crucial save in goal to preserve the lead.
• The game became unsettled through the next 10 minutes as neither side was ball dominant.
• In the 76^th minute, D'Youville's Omar Daoudi challenged Martinez with a shot, but once again the senior would make the save.
• Daoudi would go at Martinez with another scoring chance in the 81^st minute with Martinez coming out on top yet again with a save.
• The home team would record one final chance to find an equalizer in the 85^th minute, but Martinez would make one final save to send the Lions home the victors, 2-1. 

Top Performances

• Veletanga totaled a career-high four points on the back of a career-high two goals.
• Pierre Paul dished out his fourth assist of the campaign.
• In goal, Martinez made six saves.

Molloy concludes their three-game road trip Tuesday, September 29 as they travel to Springfield, Massachusetts for a contest against AIC. The contest is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
