Rockville Centre, N.Y. – It was all about the Lions Wednesday afternoon, as the Molloy women's soccer team defeated the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom, 8-0, in their home-opener at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions improve to 1-2 on the young season, while the Lightning move to 0-3.
How it Happened
- Molloy's offense went to work early and often, generating eight shots, with six coming on goal, in the opening 17 minutes.
- The Lions broke the seal in the 18th minute after senior Isabella Muro found junior Marissa Tonic for a tap in goal to set the score, 1-0.
- The cardinal and white continued to thrive offensively, controlling possession and pace of the contest through the opening 30 minutes.
- In the 36th minute, junior Jana Strait lined up a 25-yard shot and tucked it under the crossbar to increase the Lions lead, 2-0, heading into halftime. Molloy outshot Goldey-Beacom 16-1 in the first half.
- 1:16 into the second half, Muro buried a goal inside the near post to open the lead, 3-0.
- The home team remained in control in the second half as junior Bella Juliano found the back of the net in the 65th minute to put the contest out of reach, 4-0.
- In the 74th minute, freshman Ysabelle Perillo collected her first career goal following a feed from Muro to increase the lead to five, 5-0.
- Molloy would add three goals in the final 12 minutes of the contest as junior Gabrielle Justiniano, Perillo, and Juliano finding the back of the net to cap the 8-0 victory.

- Juliano had a career day, setting a career-high six points on the back of two goals and two assists while totaling a career-high nine shots and six shots on goal.
- Perillo's first two goals of her career totaled four points.
- Muro tallied three points dishing out two assists alongside a goal.
- Justiniano, Strait, and Tonic found the back of the net for the first time this season.
- Junior Madison Falkowski, sophomores Angelina Rodriguez and Amanda Martin and freshman Alexandra Chmela all picked up an assist.
- In goal, senior Elyse Muñoz made three saves to collect her first clean sheet of the season.
