Women’s Soccer Opens 2026 Against Bentley

Garden City, NY– The Molloy women's soccer team began the 2026 campaign Saturday afternoon, falling to the Bentley Falcons, 3-0, at Motamed Field on the campus of Adelphi University.
 
How it Happened
  • Bentley wasted little time, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening 1:12 with a goal from Cami Ayandele following a rebound off the post.
  • The Falcons continued to pressure the Lions' defense, putting together eight shots, including two on target that were saved by senior Elyse Muñoz over the next 20 minutes of action.
  • In the 27th minute, Bentley added to its lead following a goal from Olivia Matthews.
  • Molloy's first two chances of the afternoon came 19 seconds apart between the 30th and 31st minute when senior Isabella Muro and junior Jana Strait recorded a shot each.
  • The 41st minute saw freshman Ysabelle Perillo generate a scoring chance, but her attempt would be saved by Bentley goalkeeper Holly DiPalo, sending the contest into halftime with the Lions behind, 2-0.
  • 10 minutes into the second half, Ayandele notched her second of the game, giving Bentley a commanding 3-0 lead.
  • Strait would create space in the 71st and 83rd minute to try and break the seal, but both attempts would hit off the crossbar.
  • Junior Bella Juliano would record the Lions final shot of the afternoon later in the 83rd minute, which would be saved by DiPalo as Bentley finished out the victory, 3-0. 
Top Performances
  • Strait paced the offense with five shots.
  • In goal, Muñoz made seven saves.

Molloy is back in action Sunday, August 30 with a match up against local rival Adelphi. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
