Uniondale, N.Y. - The Molloy baseball team earned a 29-11 victory Tuesday afternoon over the Dominican Chargers at Mitchel Field. The Lions extend their winning streak to 21, improving to 30-7 on the campaign while the Chargers move to 16-27.
How it Happened
- Dominican kicked off the contest with a four-run top of the first to take a 4-0 lead.
- Molloy responded in the bottom of the frame with three runs of their own to cut the lead to one, 4-3. In the inning, two runs scored following an error and junior Charlie Imhof plated a run with a single into center field.
- After the Chargers plated a run following an error in the top of the second to set the score at, 5-3. Sophomore Steve Mulqueen flipped the script and gave the Lions a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the second after he connected for a three-run home run over the left field fence.
- The cardinal and white added three runs in the bottom of the third to increase its lead, 9-5. Junior Mike Sweeney started the frame with a run-scoring single into left field and junior Brian Sanchez knocked in a run with a ground out before Sweeney scored following a wild pitch.
- The game continued to be a see-saw battle, as the road team responded with a five-run top of the fourth on the back of a sacrifice fly, run scoring single, and three walks that plated three runs to reclaim the lead, 10-9.
- The offensive brigade carried into the bottom of the frame where the home team collected seven runs to jump back in front, 16-10. Molloy scored seven runs following three bases loaded walks, an RBI single from Sanchez, a two-rbi single from Mulqueen, and a run scoring following a stolen base.
- After the Chargers added a run in the fifth to cut the deficit to five, 16-11, Molloy used a 13-run bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach, 29-11. The sixth inning saw seven Lions collect run scoring hits as part of an eight-hit inning.
- The contest was scheduled for nine innings, but due to an agreed upon rule-rule after seven innings during pregame, the game would end following the seventh.

- Mulqueen hit his seventh home run of the year as part of a three hit day that saw him drive in a career-high five.
- Sanchez collected four hits, four runs scored, and four RBI.
- Senior Sean Serrano drove in four, scored three times, and tallied three hits.
- Junior Charlie Imhof drove in three.
- Seniors Sean Welsh and Jeremy Taggart, junior Jack Vallario and Sweeney drove in two runs each.
- On the mound, freshman Jason Torres collected his second win of the season out of the bullpen after tossing 1.1 innings allowing one run on one hit and striking out two.
