Sparkill, N.Y.- The #13 men's lacrosse team topped St. Thomas Aquinas, 10-6, this afternoon at Spartan Field. With the win, the Lions improve to 8-2 (3-0 ECC), and the Spartans drop to 2-7 (0-2 ECC).
How it Happened
- Cam Wallace cracked the scoreboard first for the Spartans four minutes into play.
- The Lions answered quickly, with junior Mikey McClain finding senior Brian Green to tie the game at 1–1.
- Wallace struck again, capitalizing on a turnover to go ahead 2-1.
- In the second quarter, graduate student Timothy Morrow set up Green on an extra-man opportunity to even the score.
- With just 47 seconds left in the first half, Green completed his hat trick to give the Lions a 3-2 lead at the break, as they held the Spartans scoreless in the second frame.
- Graduate student Zach Kroog opened the third quarter scoring off a pass from senior Tommy Corcoron. Corcoron followed with a goal of his own two minutes later to extend the lead.
- Jeremy Poggi recorded the Spartans' lone goal of the third quarter with 10 minutes remaining.
- Redshirt senior Noah Hammon and sophomore Sean Payton scored a minute apart to push the Lions' lead to 7–3 entering the fourth quarter.
- The Lions took control early in the fourth, with goals from Green, Payton, and senior Thomas Kofod to extend the lead to 10–3.
- Wallace ended the run with his third goal of the game, and Max Benoit added another off the following face-off to cut the deficit to 10–5.
- Wallace scored once more for the Spartans, closing out the contest 10-6 in favor of the Lions.
