#15 Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Post University

Rockville Centre, N.Y.- The #15 men's lacrosse team topped Post University, 17-3, this evening at the RVC Sports Complex in a non-conference match up. The Lions dominated offensively, out-shooting the Eagles 47-23 to improve to 9-2 on the season, while the Eagles sit at 7-4.

How it Happened
  • Freshman Jaden Simick got things started for the Lions, finishing off a pass from senior Jake Taylor to go ahead 1-0 early.
  • Redshirt senior Noah Hammon doubled the lead four minutes later with a bouncing shot from the right wing. Simick added his second of the game after beating a defender, pushing the lead to 3-0 in the first quarter.
  • Senior Tommy Corcoran netted back-to-back goals in the second frame, before Taylor capitalized on a two-man advantage for his third man-up goal of the season, extending Molloy's lead to 6-0.
  • The Eagles stopped the streak with under four minutes remaining in the first half, as Cameron Maunders found the back of the net.
  • Senior Justin Palulis cut to the crease and finished a pass from Taylor to restore the six-goal lead. Corcoran followed with another tally just before halftime, giving the cardinal and white an 8-1 advantage. 
  • Senior Brandon Pazienza opened the second half scoring just six seconds in, converting off a clean face-off win.
  • Corcoran struck again, dodging a Post defender and finishing far post to make it 10-1.
  • Hammon added another goal from in front, capitalizing on a two-man advantage.
  • Ryan Denike responded with a man-up goal for the Eagles, cutting the deficit to 11-2.
  • Graduate student Timothy Morrow and Taylor scored a minute apart to close out the third quarter with a 13-2 lead.
  • Simick, Palulis, and freshman Sean Payton each scored in the final frame, extending the lead to 17-2.
  • Maunders added a late goal to cap the scoring at 17-3.
Top Performances
  • Simick led the offense, scoring a career-high four goals to go along with an assist.
  • Corcoran (4 goals) and Taylor (2 goals, 2 assists) each tallied four points.
  • Hammon had a goal and an assist, Palulis netted two goals, and graduate student Zach Kroog dished out two assists.
  • Pazienza, Morrow, and Payton were the other goal scorers for the Lions, with senior Brian Green and sophomore Owen Taylor adding assists.
  • Pazienza went 10-for-14 on face-offs, while sophomore Cameron Hovanec went 5-for-6.
  • Senior Thomas Kofod picked up five ground balls and caused three turnovers.
  • Senior goaltender John Basile was forced to make just four saves in net. Sophomore James Demakopoulos added an additional save.
