- Queens would fight back, bringing the contest within one, 6-5, in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of runs coming in following a solo home run and a bases loaded walk.
- The bases remained loaded for the Knights with one away, in search of tying the contest, but freshman Jason Torres was called out of the bullpen and recorded a strikeout and ground out to keep the Lions in front.
- The road team was able to increase their lead to two, 7-5, in the seventh when senior Jeremy Taggart walked in a run with the bases loaded before the cardinal and white tacked on three runs in the eighth.
