The Molloy men's basketball represented two of the three weekly awards given out by the East Coast Conference Monday afternoon. Sophomore
Dylan Kopp was named the league's Player of the Week and junior
Jared Weakly took home Defensive Player of the Week honors. Additionally, seniors
Colleen McCullagh and
Rosa Rizzitelli of the Molloy women's basketball team were each tabbed to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Kopp tallied his first career Player of the Week honor. The sophomore led all scorers in Molloy's victory over Queens on Wednesday, totaling 23 points on the back of a career-high 10 field goals while shooting 47 percent from the floor.
Weakly collects his second Defensive Player of the Week in the last three weeks. The junior continued to be a defensive force in Molloy's victory over Queens College on Wednesday, collecting a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, with nine coming on the defensive glass while blocking five shots and swiping a career-high four steals.
McCullagh continued to lead the way for the Lions, averaging 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. In league play, the senior just missed a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds in a 78-53 win over Queens College. Against a tough Assumption team, McCullagh ended the week with 23 points, four rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
Rizzitelli was a consistent contributor in a 1-1 week for Molloy, averaging 8.5 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 7.5 points, and 2.5 steals per game for the Lions. The senior put up 10 assist and 10 rebounds in a conference win over Queens College, adding four steals.
