Uniondale, N.Y.- The field hockey team dropped an 8-0 decision to Saint Anselm this afternoon at Mitchel Field. With the result, the Lions move to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in Northeast-10 Conference play, while the Hawks improve to 6-3 on the season and remain undefeated in NE10 play at 3-0.

How it Happened
  • The Lions defense had a strong opening, blocking six shots and adding two saves from sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Balsamo through the first 11 minutes of play.
  • Saint Anselm's Breanna Shorey would break the stalemate in the last minute of the first quarter, scoring off a pass from Ruby Reid.
  • Less than a minute into the second quarter, Meaghan Smith capitalized on a turnover to quickly double the Hawks' lead.
  • Balsamo closed out the first half with two additional saves to keep the deficit at two.
  • Saint Anselm extended its advantage in the third quarter, finding the back of the net three times to go up 5-0.
