Women’s Soccer Plays To Scoreless Draw Against Caldwell

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team picked up its first point of the 2025 campaign after drawing, 0-0, with the Cougars of Caldwell Wednesday evening at John A. Darcy Field. As a result, Molloy moves to 0-2-1 while Caldwell goes to 1-0-1.
 
How it Happened
  • It took until the 10th minute for the contest to have a shot recorded when Caldwell's Melissa Pires put a shot wide.
  • The Lions first chance came six minutes later after junior Isabella Muro had her shot blocked.
  • The first shot on target came from sophomore Jana Strait who created space for a chance in the 31st minute, but Caldwell goalkeeper Ariana Gaminara made the save.
  • The cardinal and white had two chances in the final four minutes of the opening 45, but Strait and graduate student Emma Beattie saw both of their shots miss target sending the game into halftime without a score.
  • Three minutes into the second half, Muro looked for her first tally, but her shot would be denied.
  • The home team continued to put pressure on the Cougars back line as Muro and Beattie would generate goal scoring opportunities in the 49th and 50th minute, but neither would land on net.
  • In the 71st minute, the road team looked to find the back of the net when Mira Itzin put together a chance, but the shot would not force a save.
  • Seven minutes later, Strait would challenge for the contests first goal, but Strait was denied by Gaminara.
  • In the final two minutes, Strait would send a screaming shot off her left foot just wide of the left post and senior Mikaela Barriga had a shot saved ending the contest in a scoreless draw. 
Top Performances
  • Strait paced the offense with six shots with two coming on net.
  • Muro tallied five shots with one on target while Beattie collected three shots.
Up Next
Molloy will go on the road for the first time this season as they'll travel to Wilmington, Delaware for a matchup against Goldey-Beacom. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
