Sean Welsh was named Third Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings announced Friday morning. Welsh is one of three designated hitters in the nation selected as an All-American and follows the junior's NCBWA, D2CCA, and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team distinctions. Welsh becomes seventh All-American tally in Molloy baseball program history and the fourth position player to collect the honor.
Welsh was previously named All-Conference First Team selection. The junior topped the East Coast Conference and set a single-season program record totaling 15 home runs and 62 RBI. The East Meadow native provided blistering speed out of the atop the order, totaling a league leading 73 runs and 29 stolen bases to go along with a .338 batting average and 72 hits.
