Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - In a battle for the 2025 Regular Season Championship, the #15 men's lacrosse team came up just short in an overtime loss at Mercy Field this afternoon. Molloy was down by five goals midway through the third quarter before tying the contest in the final minutes to force an overtime period. The loss drops Molloy to 13-4 on the season and 5-1 in East Coast Conference play while Mercy improved to 9-3 and went an undefeated 6-0 in league play this season.
How it Happened
- The home team took an early two-goal lead to start the contest.
- Senior Mike D'Amato put Molloy on the scoreboard with five minutes left in the opening quarter, but the Mavericks added one final goal in the final second of the frame to take a 3-1 lead.
- Mercy opened the second quarter with two goals before freshman Jacob Faison netted a man-up marker.
- 30 seconds later, senior Luke Huckam made it a two-goal game with a goal.
- The teams exchanged scores back and forth, but Mercy would once again get the last word with a goal in the final minute of the half to take an 8-4 lead into the break.
- Freshman defender Liam Taylor opened the second half with a goal before two more from the home team gave the Mavs a 10-5 lead.
- Faison converted on his second man-up opportunity of the afternoon to kick off a three-goal lead for the Lions, with goals from sophomore Michael McClain and junior Jake Taylor following to set the score at 10-8 after 45 minutes of play.
- The teams once again alternated scores to start the fourth quarter to make it 12-9.
- Junior Brian Green scored on the man up to bring the Lions within two.
- With three minutes left to play, goals from Hickam and Green tied the contest at 12.
- Green and senior Jack Herzlinger both fired shots on cage in the final 80 seconds, but were unable to pull the Lions in front and forced overtime.
- Goalkeeper Cameron Dorfman made a save on a shot from junior Justin Palulis before taking the ball up the field, firing a shot from midfield and scoring the game-winner for the Mavericks to clinch the regular season for Mercy.
Top Performances
- Green paced the Lions with five points on two goals and matching a career-high three assists.
- Faison, Jake Taylor, and Hickam each scored twice for two points while Liam Taylor had two points on a goal and an assist. The two points were a career-high for both freshmen.
- McClain, D'Amato, and senior Dre Alexis each found the back of the net with Herzlinger, seniors Bryan Diliberto and Noah Taylor as well as junior Thomas Kofod picking up assists.
- Junior Brandon Pazienza led with 10 ground balls, going 14-of-27 on face-offs.
- Kofod added four ground balls while junior Shawn McCabe picked up three.
- Freshman Aiden Dinnigan led with three caused turnovers.
- Senior Christian Michaels made 17 saves in net.

Molloy will be the two-seed in the East Coast Conference Tournament. They will await the winner of Frostburg State and Roberts Wesleyan University to determine their opponent for Wednesday's (Apr. 30) Semifinal from Rockville Centre.
