Bridgeport, Conn – The softball team split a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon against Bridgeport University, 4-3 in game one and 8-5 in game two. The Lions now stand at a 16-22 record, while the Purple Knights improve to 27-11.
Game One: Bridgeport 4, Molloy 3
How it Happened
- The Purple Knights got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning with a walk and a double to right center.
- In the top of the second, senior Cheralyn Dusharme doubled to right field and advanced to third on a wild pitch.
- Sophomore Stevie Dabbadie followed with an RBI double to right center, tying the game at 1-1.
- Dabbadie kept the momentum going by retiring the side in order in the bottom of the second, including back-to-back strikeouts.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Dabbadie retired another three batters in a row.
- A lead off single by pinch hitter Paityn Thibodeau opened the bottom of the fifth. Pinch runner Emily Chase advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and to third on a ground out. A fielding error and a single plated two runs, giving Bridgeport a 3-2 lead.
- Junior Emily McGurk walked to start the top of the sixth inning.
- Senior Natalie Moussa homered to center field to even the score at 3-3.
- In the bottom half, a lead off double to left center set up Chase for an RBI single, putting the Purple Knights ahead 4-3.
- McGurk worked a walk to start the top of the seventh, but a double play and a strikeout ended the inning before the Lions could produce a run.

How it Happened
- Singles from Madison D'Amato and Mya Jones, paired with a stolen base by D'Amato, set up runners on the corners for the Purple Knights in the bottom of the first. D'Amato broke for home during a rundown as Jones attempted to steal second, putting the home team up 1-0.
- Dusharme worked a walk in the top of the second before Dabbadie doubled to right center, putting runners on second and third.
- Sophomore Mariah Cepeda then delivered a two-RBI double to give the Lions a 2-1 lead.
- The Purple Knights responded in the bottom half with a fielder's choice and a triple to right center, tying the game at 2-2.
- Dusharme and Dabbadie hit back-to-back singles in the top of the third inning before freshman Madeline Millman reached on a fielding error to load the bases with two outs.
- Cepeda drew a bases-loaded walk to push Molloy ahead 3-2.
- Moussa retired the next three batters in order in the bottom of the third.
