#17 Men's Lacrosse Soars Past STAC, 15-4

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The No. 17 men's lacrosse team picked up its fifth-straight victory this evening, topping the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College 15-4 from the Rockville Centre Sports Complex. Molloy improved to 12-3 on the season and 4-0 in East Coast Conference play with the win while the loss dropped STAC to 3-8 (0-4 ECC).

How it Happened
  • The Lions offense took an early 5-0 lead after 14 minutes of play. Junior Brian Green and senior Luke Hickam each tallied two goals in the opening quarter while junior Tommy Corcoron added the fifth.
  • The Spartans got on the board in the final minute of the quarter on a goal from Lucas Mullen.
  • The first two goals of the second quarter were scored from Austin Maybee to make it a two-goal contest.
  • Hickam notched his third of the game to regain a cushion for the Lions. 
  • The offense would score the next four goals spanning into the final five minutes of the third quarter to make it a 10-3 lead.
  • Austin Palen scored off a face-off to break up the streak, but goals from seniors Bryan Diliberto and Noah Taylor ended the third quarter with Molloy ahead 12-4.
  • STAC was shut out in the fourth frame with Diliberto, Hickam, and senior Mike D'Amato rounding out the scoring for the home team.
Top Performances
  • Hickam led the offense with six points on four goals and two assists to go with three ground balls.
  • Green had three assists to go with his two goals for five points.
  • Diliberto and Taylor both scored three goals and added an assist.
  • D'Amato, Corcoron, and junior Justin Palulis each found the back of the net while sophomore Michael McClain, freshmen Jacob Faison and Zachary Maligres, as well as junior Shawn McCabe all added assists.
  • Junior Thomas Kofod topped the defense with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Taylor had a career-high six ground balls while Palulis and McCabe each added four.
  • McCabe, junior Nick Taiani, and freshman Liam Taylor each forced two turnovers.
  • Junior Brandon Pazienza and Maligres each went 50 percent from the face-off dot, combining for 10 ground balls.
  • Senior Christian Michaels made six saves in net while junior John Basile made two.
Up Next
The Lions will host the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday (Apr. 19) for the final home game of the regular season. Before the 3:00 p.m. face-off, the men's lacrosse program will celebrate the members of the senior class in a senior day ceremony.
