Flushing, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team wrapped up its four-game series with the Knights of Queens College Monday afternoon falling, 4-3, at Hennekens Stadium. The Lions sit at 21-13 overall and 11-5 in East Coast Conference play, while the Knights improve to 11-20 overall and 3-5 in league play.
How it Happened
- The Knights got on the board in the bottom of the first following a solo home run from Penn Sealey.
- Molloy answered in the top of the second when senior Thomas Lebrecht singled home senior Patrick Sanchez to knot the contest at one.
- Queens responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to reclaim the lead, 3-2, after runs came in following a single and a sacrifice fly.
- The home team added to its lead in the fourth, 4-2, after an RBI single.
- The Lions rallied for two runs in the top of the sixth. Junior Jack Coogan singled in graduate student Aidan Larkin and Sanchez crossed the plate following a wild pitch to cut the deficit to one, 4-3.
- The cardinal and white threatened in the seventh putting a pair of runners on with one out, but Queens would scurry out of the jam ending the inning with a strike out and foul out to keep Molloy off the board.
- The road team would once again get two runners on in the eighth inning looking to knot the contest, but once again the Knights would stifle the bats inducing a fly out and strikeout to shut the door.
- The eighth inning threat turned out to be the final chance the Lions would have as they were set down in order in the ninth, clinching the 4-3 win for Queens.

- Coogan paced the offense with two hits and one RBI.
- Lebrecht added a hit and drove in a run.
- Sanchez scored twice.
- On the mound, senior JC Kiss got the start tossing six innings allowing four runs on six hits.
