Buffalo, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team picked up a definitive victory this afternoon over Daemen University, 15-1, from Coyer Field. The Lions improved to 7-8 on the season and 4-1 in East Coast Conference play with the victory while Daemen fell to 4-9 (2-3 ECC).
How it Happened
- The contest belonged to the Lions from the opening whistle. Senior Megan Rugolo controlled the opening draw and quickly earned a free position attempt and giving Molloy a 1-0 lead.
- Senior Alessandra Borsellino scored less than two minutes later to double the lead.
- Rugolo would add another goal and assist in the first 15 minutes, and paired with goals from freshman Ava Benasutti and senior Sofia Quitoni, gave Molloy a 5-0 lead.
- Benasutti scored her second of the contest to start the second quarter. Senior Alexa Amorison would score twice in the second 15 minutes of play, and Quitoni would record a hat trick within the first half.
- The Lions led 11-0 at the half.
- Quitoni, Amorison, and Borsellino all added markers in the third quarter before freshman Emma Ryan added a goal in the final seven minutes of the contest.
- Daemen got on the board in the final 90 seconds on a goal from Cameron Briggs to round out the scoring.

- Amorison led the Lions with five points on three goals and two assists.
- Quitoni had four points on four goals while Rugolo reached four points on three goals and an assist.
- Borsellino and Benasutti each scored twice while Ryan had one goal.
- Senior Carly Howell set a career-high in both ground balls (9) and caused turnovers (7), leading the cardinal and white in both categories.
- Rugolo picked up three ground balls and added two draw controls.
- Senior Brenna Signorelli forced two turnovers.
- Freshman Ryleigh Zamora led with three draw controls.
- Sophomore goalie Nicole Schaumloffel made six stops in net.

The Lions will return to Rockville Centre for the final home game of the regular season on Satuday (Apr. 19). Molloy will face D'Youville at 12:00 p.m. The team will recognize the nine members of the senior class in a pre-game ceremony.
